C-Lab is celebrating Medical Laboratory Professionals Week 2026 and highlighting its laboratory experts.
On the occasion of Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (Lab Week), celebrated from April 19 to 25, 2026 under the theme “Lab Story: To Infinity and Beyond – For Our Patients,” C-Lab reaffirms its commitment to valuing laboratory professionals. Their work, often carried out behind the scenes, is nonetheless essential to the quality of care and patient management.
This international week aims to recognize the vital role of medical laboratories in the diagnosis, monitoring, and prevention of diseases. It also highlights the dedication, rigor, and expertise of these professionals, who remain too little known by the general public.
As part of the 2026 edition, C-Lab has rolled out a series of initiatives designed to celebrate its teams and emphasize their contribution within the healthcare ecosystem. This year’s theme is based on two key convictions: first, that laboratory professionals have an impact that goes far beyond their technical functions, particularly through their involvement in public health and patient care; and second, that their experience, know-how, and commitment deserve full recognition.
“Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is a valuable opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional contribution of our teams. Behind every result are rigorous and passionate professionals whose work is essential to medical decision-making and patients’ care journeys,” says Tina Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of C-Lab.
Exchange and Immersion at the Heart of the Profession
In this spirit, the C-Lab teams, accompanied by their CEO, led an educational session for students at the University of Mauritius (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture & Faculty of Science). The session provided participants with a concrete understanding of the profession and on-the-ground realities of laboratory work.
Discussions focused in particular on the future of laboratories in the age of artificial intelligence, key skills required in the sector, as well as career opportunities. Following this session, students were invited to visit the C-Care Wellkin laboratory, allowing them to discover professional practices and gain first-hand insight into the daily operations of a laboratory.
For Associate Professor (Dr) Mrs P. Nunkoo-Gonpot, Dean of the Faculty of Science, this initiative is essential:
“It strengthens the links between academia and industry, while offering students practical exposure and a better understanding of the demands of the profession.”
In addition, students from the Polytechnic Faculty also took part in an immersive laboratory visit, giving them direct exposure to the working environment and professional requirements of the field.
Team Recognition and Collective Engagement
Beyond knowledge sharing, this Lab Week was also an opportunity to strengthen internal cohesion and recognize employees’ contributions. As highlighted by Akshay Ramchurrun, Head of Human Resources at C-Lab:
“This week allows us not only to thank our teams, but also to strengthen their sense of belonging and pride.”
To mark the occasion, the reception areas of the four C-Care Group facilities were decorated in line with the Lab Week theme. All employees were given a commemorative badge, symbolising their daily commitment.
C-Lab also highlighted its strategic partners – Proximed, FTM, Ducray Lenoir, PNL, IBL, and Prise Ltd – suppliers of essential equipment and reagents. Their support as collaborators actively contributes to innovation and the advancement of laboratory medicine.
Well-being and Excellence in Patient Care
As part of a holistic approach, C-Lab, in partnership with HirePulse Wellness, offered its teams a dedicated session on emotional management, communication, and patient experience on April 21. This initiative aimed to better equip professionals in handling sensitive situations, daily pressure, and emergency contexts.
The workshop helped strengthen resilience, team cohesion, and a patient-centred care culture – key elements in ensuring the quality and efficiency of laboratory services.
Inspiring Testimonials
Nasreen Soopun, Clinical Laboratory Supervisor at C-Lab, highlights the importance of collaborative work:
“Collaboration between teams is essential. Assistants are in direct contact with patients, while technicians work behind the scenes. Together, we ensure the quality of sample collection and the reliability of results, in the best interest of the patient.”
From the students’ perspective, the impact is just as strong. Mukthavali Tanvi Rampersad, a third-year student at the University of Mauritius, shares her experience:
A Forward-Looking Mission
Through these initiatives, C-Lab reaffirms its commitment to valuing its professionals and continuing its pursuit of excellence. By placing people, innovation, and collaboration at the heart of its mission, the company actively contributes to the continuous improvement of care for the benefit of patients.
