Work Experience

Attended the University of the Witwatersrand and obtained my medical degree in 2001,
thereafter I completed my specialist training in neurosurgery at the university of
Stellenbosch and obtained my fellowship in neurosurgery in 2011 with the Colleges of
Medicine South Africa, FCS Neurosurgery (SA).

Achievements

Been in Neurosurgery Practice for the past 10 years, and has achieved high level of competency in the following aspects of neurosurgery:

 

Trauma neurosurgery: brain and spinal, including decompression and fusion
Degenerative spine and back pain management;
Conservative ( infiltrations, pain block, RF lessoning etc, with
multidisciplinary (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, osteopath,
biokineticist) spine management approach) and
surgical management (from micro-discectomy to decompression and
fusion ( anterior/poaterior/lateral/costotranverse/trans abdominal/
transthoracic) Cranial base (C0), cervical C1 to sacrum),
Tumour surgery brain and spine, including metastases
Neuroendoscopic and open intraventricular surgeries
Stereotactic surgery- frame based and frameless
Percutaneous procedures : biopsies and Kyphoplasty for vertebral fractures.
Hydrocrphalus : Shunt procedures and endoscopic procedures
Normal pressure hydrocephalus- endoscopic shuntless and shunt procedures
Neuronavigation guided neurosurgery
Neuro endoscopy, including but not limited to transsphenoidal pituitary and other
skull base surgeries and CSF leak repairs
Aneurysm surgery

Pain management with morphine pumps, spinal stimulator and lesioning
