Work Experience

Dr Gunness has spent 15 years in Ireland during which she qualified as a medical practitioner and thereafter specialised in the field of Endocrinology and Diabetes.

In the last 6 years, prior to moving back to Mauritius, she has worked at a senior level in Internal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology in specialized centres across Dublin.

Dr Gunness has also worked as a locum consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes in St. James Hospital, a large tertiary referal hospital in Dublin.

Her areas of Expertise include the following

Diabetes, and its associated complications- foot care, kidney disease, obesity, sexual health disturbances, hypertension and dyslipidaemias.

Diabetes technology, such as insulin pumps and glucose sensors

Reproductive Endocrinology such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, infertility work-up, menopause.

Thyroid disorders

Adrenal Disorders

Pituitary dysfunctions

Metabolic Bone disease such as osteoporosis


Endocrine disorders in pregnancy including diabetes.
